Travertine

Travertine is a natural limestone formed by mineral springs, carrying the same timeless character and individuality as marble. Each piece is unique, with natural pores, tonal variations and surface patterns that highlight its organic origin. These irregularities are part of its beauty and should not be considered defects. Like other natural stones, travertine is porous and requires careful maintenance to protect its surface and preserve its refined appearance. Over time, travertine will develop a patina that reflects both its natural qualities and the life lived around it.

Everyday cleaning

For daily cleaning, use a soft microfibre cloth wrung in warm water. If needed, add a mild, pH-neutral soap specifically intended for natural stone. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners, as they will etch or dull the surface. Always wipe spills immediately, especially wine, coffee, tea, fruit juice, and other acidic liquids, to prevent permanent stains.

Ongoing care

Travertine can be sealed with an impregnating stone sealer to reduce absorbency and protect against stains. Wet objects such as vases or glasses can leave marks, so use coasters, trays and trivets where possible. For stain removal, use only cleaning products formulated for travertine and follow the instructions carefully.
