Semi-aniline leather is cherished for its natural appearance and soft, supple touch. A light protective finish makes it more resilient than pure aniline leather, while still allowing the natural character of the hide to shine through. Over time, the leather develops a beautiful patina, adding depth and individuality. To preserve its look and feel, regular care is essential. Leather cannot regenerate itself and therefore depends on careful cleaning and moisturising to maintain its softness and colour.
Everyday cleaning
To preserve the look and feel of semi-aniline leather, vacuum the furniture carefully with an upholstery nozzle or wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid direct exposure to light, as both sunlight and artificial light can fade the colour and dry out the leather. Always position leather furniture at least 30 cm away from heaters, since heat accelerates drying. Protect the surface from discolouration by avoiding prolonged contact with strongly dyed textiles such as jeans, throws or cushions. Pets, zippers and sharp objects can also scratch or damage the leather surface and should be kept away.
Stain removal
The most important rule for stains: respond immediately. For beverage stains, gently blot the liquid with a paper towel – never rub, as this may spread the stain. Afterwards, clean carefully with a suitable cleaner, avoiding excessive pressure or vigorous rubbing. For the Hope leather, our leather supplier, Camo Leather, recommends KERALUX® Leather Care Set P from LCK. However, always make sure to test new care products on a less visible spot before using on the stain. Never use chemical products or ordinary household cleaners, as these can damage the surface of the leather.
